To the editor,
I am writing to encourage a vote of “YES” to maintain the Wild Rose Casino in Greene County. As the leader for the Friends of Rippey, I am so positive and grateful for the funds that our community has received from Grow Greene County, as well as the Greene County Community Foundation over the years.
The Friends of Rippey recently received funding to help the town celebrate its sesquicentennial celebration. Through GCCF, partial funds were obtained for Sarah Stotts to paint a beautiful 150th history of Rippey mural on the side of the Rolling Hills Bank, and Raspberry Ridge of Jefferson published I REMEMBER RIPPEY, a collection of stories from Rippeyites who told of nostalgic as well as humorous stories of growing up in our little town.
Most recently GCCF provided match dollars to improve the safety features of the Walt Anderson baseball field and upgrade the bleachers making them stronger and thus safer for fans. We had several baseball games in our community this past summer, with one more tournament to be held October 9.
Please vote to continue the Wild Rose Casino in Greene County. The vote must be at least 50 per cent to retain the facility. Do not assume the vote will be positive. You may begin voting at the Auditor’s office on October 13.
Sincerely yours,
Mary Weaver,President Friends of Rippey
